Lions Club Fürth donates €6,000 to strengthen local drug prevention programmes

A €6,000 donation from the Lions Club Fürth will boost drug prevention efforts across the city and district. The funds will support school programmes, youth centres, and training for professionals working with young people. Local authorities and the Lions Club have joined forces to tackle substance misuse under the slogan Together Against Drugs – Empowered, Not Addicted.

The donation was officially handed over at the Fürth District Office during a press event. Attendees included Deputy Mayor Markus Braun, Lions Club President Dragana Viskovic, and representatives from youth services and social education. Half of the money—€3,000 each—will go to the city and the district.

The campaign focuses on empowering young people before addiction can develop. It targets risk-taking behaviours common in adolescence, such as experimenting with drugs. Schools, parents, clubs, and local authorities are all involved in delivering prevention activities.

Funding will cover a range of initiatives, including workshops in schools, parent information evenings, and updated prevention materials. An existing flyer on prevention services will also be revised. The Fürth Youth Protection Office, the District Office's Health Promotion Unit, and the Criminal Police are coordinating the effort.

The Lions Club has a long history of backing drug prevention in the area. Their latest contribution ensures ongoing support for both new and established projects.

The collaboration between the city, district, and Lions Club aims to create a safer environment for young people. Prevention efforts will focus on education, early intervention, and community support. The €6,000 funding will help expand resources for schools, families, and youth organisations in Fürth.
