Rain Soaks Twin Cities Pride but Can't Dampen Celebrations

Heavy rain and thunderstorms disrupted Twin Cities Pride events in downtown Minneapolis on Sunday. The downpour delayed both the Rainbow Run 5K and the Pride parade, but attendees remained undeterred. Thousands still gathered to celebrate, despite the wet conditions. Steady rain soaked the city early in the day. The Rainbow Run 5K faced a delay of over an hour, leaving participants with soggy shoes. Morgan Cole from Hopkins remarked that feet would stay wet all day.

The Pride parade also started about 30 minutes late. Brenda Faber, also from Hopkins, said the rain did nothing to dampen the crowd’s enthusiasm.

Among the visitors were Ginger and Nancy, who travelled from Austin, Texas. They chose Twin Cities Pride for its size and long-standing history. To stay dry, they managed to find child-size raincoats. Lilah Easton from Inver Grove Heights added that she came to support the community and show her love for Minnesota. Despite the weather, the events proceeded with adjustments to the schedule. Attendees adapted with improvised solutions, and the celebrations continued. The delays did not stop the community from coming together.
