Uttar Pradesh launches 'poison-free food' drive via cow shelters
Uttar Pradesh in India is set to launch a large-scale campaign for 'poison-free food'. The initiative will focus on the state’s gaushalas, or cow shelters, to promote chemical-free farming and healthier food choices. The UP Go-seva Aayog has designed a 'Farm to Consumer' model to support the campaign. Gaushalas will act as collection and distribution hubs for natural farming produce. These centres will supply grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, and Panchgavya-based products to local families.
In the first phase, the campaign will connect families living within five kilometres of selected gaushalas. It will also create jobs in rural areas by involving local youth in processing, packaging, and marketing activities. The campaign aims to provide a stable market for farmers producing chemical-free goods. It will also strengthen the role of gaushalas as key supply centres for pure food products. Families in the region will receive farm-fresh, natural produce directly through this initiative.
