Vadhvan Port's skill initiative trains 7,000+ youth for future jobs

A high-level meeting recently reviewed the progress of the Vadhvan Port Skill Development Programme. Vadhvan Port Project Ltd. (VPPL) and the Maharashtra government discussed the initiative’s growth and its alignment with the port project’s future needs. The programme has already trained over 7,000 students through 24 skill development schemes. Four new training batches have started at ITI Vangaon and ITI Palghar under an agreement between VPPL and the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training.

During the meeting, a Manpower Study Projections Report was shared. It detailed expected job roles, technical skills, and employment opportunities across the port project’s different phases. The discussion centred on matching workforce training with the project’s upcoming manpower demands.

VPPL Chairman Gaurav Dayal highlighted the aim of the partnership: to prepare local youth with the right skills for the project. The Maharashtra government reaffirmed its commitment to creating a flexible skilling system for new industrial needs. The skill development programme will grow as the Vadhvan Port project advances. Its focus remains on equipping local talent with the expertise required for future employment. The collaboration between VPPL and the state government continues to drive this effort forward.
