Magadan Welcomes Khebdenek with Dawn Rituals and Northern Sports

The Evenki New Year, Khebdenek, will be celebrated in Magadan on June 20. Festivities will begin early at the Dyukcha ethnopark, with the regional holiday rated for all ages above six. Public transport will run extended hours to accommodate visitors. The celebrations will start at 5:00 AM with traditional rituals and Evenki cuisine. These activities will continue until 7:30 AM, offering visitors a taste of authentic cultural practices.

From 8:00 AM, concert performances and northern multi-sport competitions will take place. A northern sports competition is also scheduled as part of the day’s events. Handmade souvenirs will be on sale at the Nelten fair-exhibition.

Bus No. 12 will operate a special route to Dyukcha Park and back, departing from the square near 1 Lenin Avenue. Public transport services will run from 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM to support the holiday crowd. The festival promises a full day of cultural and sporting events. Visitors can participate in rituals, enjoy Evenki dishes, and watch performances. Extended transport and special bus services will ensure easy access to the ethnopark.
