2026 Economics Editors Conference Breaks Records in Beijing

The 2026 Editors-in-Chief Conference in Economics took place at Beijing Jiaotong University from May 25 to June 9. This was the sixth edition of the event since its start in June 2021. The conference aimed to share insights on publishing research from China in leading international journals. The event was jointly organised by the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University and Elsevier. Its theme, 'Publishing China Research in Top Journals: Insights from Global and Chinese Editors', set the focus for discussions.

The conference featured two main parts. The Editors' Plenary Session occurred on May 29, with five editors from top journals presenting their perspectives. Additionally, six specialised editor seminars ran between May 25 and June 9, offering in-depth discussions.

Six editors-in-chief and co-editors from prominent economics journals were invited. They shared research findings and their experiences in academic publishing. The conference attracted 28,576 participants, marking a 21% rise in registrations and a 78.6% increase in attendance compared to the previous year. The conference concluded with strong positive feedback from attendees. Its success highlighted growing interest in the event and its role in connecting global and Chinese academic publishing. Organisers noted the significant rise in participation as a key outcome.
