Magadan schools to get modern outdoor gyms by autumn 2024

Modern GTO fitness zones will open this year in Magadan. Two schools, Eco-Biological Lyceum and School No. 28, will receive the new outdoor gyms on their vacant lots. The project aims to encourage students to adopt a more active lifestyle. The fitness zones are part of the state programme Development of Physical Culture and Sports. They also support the national project Long and Active Life. Construction is set to finish by the end of September.

Each gym will include equipment for upper-body, abdominal, and back exercises. Parallel bars, an elliptical trainer, and a stationary bike will also be available. Other features are a Swedish wall, pull-up bars, and a bench press station. Shock-absorbing flooring will ensure safer, more comfortable workouts.

The zones are designed to help students meet GTO standards and improve their health. They will make sports a regular part of daily school life. The new facilities will provide students with free access to modern exercise equipment. Their completion will mark a step towards promoting physical activity among young people in Magadan. The zones are expected to be ready for use by the start of autumn.
