Mystry Mart Brings Surprise Art Vending to Coney Island's Margarita Island

A vending machine called Mystry Mart has appeared at Margarita Island in Coney Island. It sells original artwork from local creators in a surprise format. Buyers only discover their purchase after payment, though they can preview the artist’s style online beforehand. The machine launched earlier this month at Margarita Island, a bar known for its collection of Coney Island memorabilia. Owner Carlo Muraco said the installation fits the venue’s dedication to local culture and history.

Mystry Mart offers pieces priced between $10 and $100, with 120 artists contributing work. Victoria Orlovskaya, a Brooklyn native and co-founder, leads the project as its chief curiosity cultivator. The initiative aims to support emerging artists and encourage new art collectors.

Currently, four Mystry Mart machines operate in the area. A fifth is set to open later this month. The Margarita Island machine will remain in place through October. The project provides a new way for local artists to showcase and sell their work. It also gives buyers an unexpected piece of original art. The machine’s stay at Margarita Island offers visitors a chance to participate until the end of October.
