Plano's explosive growth draws AT&T, Samsung and a new Dallas Stars arena

Plano is experiencing rapid growth and development with major projects on the horizon. Two major companies are setting up headquarters in Plano. AT&T is constructing a new base that will house 10,000 employees. Samsung is also relocating its corporate office from New Jersey to the city.

Plano is pushing to speed up office construction and assist new businesses in launching quickly. A new arena for the Dallas Stars is proposed for the Willow Bend mall site. In November, residents will vote on user taxes to fund this project. Mayor Muns has assured the public that property taxes will not increase for the arena.

The city is also exploring an extension of DART’s red line light rail along its eastern side. The planned arena, corporate relocations, and potential rail expansion highlight Plano’s ambition.
