Lake Balkhash's new beaches set to transform tourism by 2026

The shores of Lake Balkhash near Lepsy village are being turned into a tourist destination. Three new public beaches, each designed for different age groups, will open in stages starting from July 2026. The project also includes major infrastructure upgrades to support visitors and the local economy. The first beach, Beach No. 1, will open in July 2026 as a lively youth-oriented space. Named 'Arbat', it will cover nearly seven hectares and include parking for 500 cars. Beach No. 2, aimed at families, follows in August 2026 with shallow waters, faster-warming temperatures, and a child-friendly lakebed. Beach No. 3, a peaceful retreat for older visitors, will open at the start of the 2027 season.

The development includes a new 9.3-kilometre asphalt road along the shoreline. A 137-kilometre highway leading to the lake has also been fully reconstructed, complete with modern roadside infrastructure. Lepsy village now has direct utility connections to the lake, including water supply, power lines, and sewage systems. The resort zone will follow an approved architectural concept to prevent unplanned construction. The new beaches and infrastructure are set to attract more tourists to the region. This increase in visitors is expected to strengthen the local economy. All improvements align with the goal of creating a structured and welcoming lakeside destination.
