How a Kazakh youth club shapes confidence and leadership in Astana

The Association of German Youth in Kazakhstan has united 27 clubs nationwide for three decades. Among them is the 'Diamant' youth club, a space where young people build friendships and develop new skills. Anastasia Kireyeva now leads its branch in Astana. Anastasia Kireyeva first learned about the club in 2017 from her classmate Regina Liskova. She attended her first event the following year, a 'theater carousel' performance by a youth theatre group from Karaganda.

In time, she took on a leadership role. As head of the 'Diamant' club in Astana, she organises meetings, team-building activities, and educational projects. The club thrives on its diverse and creative members, though it faces challenges like fitting activities around busy schedules and training future leaders.

Kireyeva believes the club’s supportive environment helps young people uncover talents and grow in confidence. She hopes it will keep attracting engaged members and inspire more to take initiative. The 'Diamant' youth club remains an active part of the Association of German Youth in Kazakhstan. Its work continues to provide opportunities for connection and personal growth. Kireyeva encourages young people in the country to step forward and shape their own futures.
