Zurich Pride 2026 introduces ticket fees amid financial strain and smaller festival plans

Zurich Pride will introduce ticket fees for its 2026 festival, marking a first in the event's history. The decision comes after a drop in corporate sponsorship and growing financial pressures. Organisers have also announced plans to reduce the festival's size and move it to Turbinenplatz for next year's edition.

The 2026 Zurich Pride Festival will take place on June 19 and 20, but attendees will now need to buy tickets for entry. The nonprofit association behind the event stated that the new system aims to secure more stable finance and improve financial planning.

The festival itself will be smaller than in previous years, with activities concentrated at Turbinenplatz instead of its usual larger venues. Despite these changes, the traditional Pride march will remain free to join, ensuring public participation continues without cost.

The shift follows a wider trend of reduced corporate backing, as several major companies have cut or withdrawn their sponsorship of Pride events in Zurich and beyond. Before finalising the plans, organisers must gain approval from association members at an extraordinary general meeting scheduled for next week.

If approved, the ticketing system will begin in 2026, alongside a more compact festival layout. The adjustments are designed to address financial challenges while keeping the march accessible. Organisers have not yet indicated whether similar measures could be adopted by other Pride events in Switzerland or internationally.
