Yamal's free Vitamin D programme reaches over 45,500 children since 2024
More than 45,500 children in Yamal have received free Vitamin D supplements since 2024. The regional programme aims to prevent calcium deficiency and support healthy development in young children. Parents can obtain the supplement with a prescription from a paediatrician. The initiative provides Vitamin D to all children aged from birth to three years old. Since its launch, 21,106 children received the supplement in 2024, followed by 19,793 in 2025 and another 5,000 in 2026. The standard preventive dose is given twice a year, with two bottles issued annually.
Dosage varies by age. Infants under one year old are prescribed 1,000 units (two drops), while children aged one to three receive 1,500 units (three drops). The supplement is taken every three months to maintain effective levels. Vitamin D plays a key role in bone and tooth development by preventing calcium deficiency. It also strengthens the immune system by regulating immune cell production and reducing inflammation. In addition, the vitamin helps protect against serious conditions like rickets and supports nervous system health. Prescriptions are available through routine check-ups, home visits, or telemedicine consultations. The programme ensures easy access for families across the region.
The free distribution of Vitamin D in Yamal has reached thousands of children since 2024. The supplement is provided in age-specific doses to support growth, immunity, and bone health. Families can continue accessing it through regular paediatric care.
