Yakutia’s Superfoods Revealed: Foal Meat, Frozen Fish, and Wild Berries Top Longevity Study

A new study has ranked the top foods for health and longevity, with traditional Yakutian dishes taking the lead. Professor Konstantin Stepanov’s research highlights local ingredients packed with essential nutrients. The findings come from the Yakut Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture in Yakutia, Russia.

Yakut foal meat tops the list for its exceptional nutritional benefits. It contains a high concentration of unsaturated fatty acids, including linolenic acid (omega-3), which helps prevent cholesterol buildup in blood vessels. The meat’s low-melting-point fat also makes it easier to digest and absorb.

Frozen raw broad whitefish, known locally as chir stroganina, comes in second. This traditional dish is rich in protein, omega-3, and polyunsaturated fatty acids. These nutrients support heart health and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Wild berries from Yakutia take third place. Loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, they help prevent heart disease, improve brain function, and stabilise blood sugar levels. The research confirms their role as a powerful natural health booster.

The study reinforces the value of Yakutia’s traditional foods for maintaining youth and health. Foal meat, frozen whitefish, and wild berries stand out for their unique nutritional profiles. These findings could encourage wider recognition of regional diets in promoting long-term wellbeing.
