Yakutia's new serge hitching post honors heritage on Entrepreneurship Day
A traditional Yakut serge has been installed in Us Khatyn to mark Russian Entrepreneurship Day. The handcrafted hitching post stands as a tribute to Sakha heritage and the enduring traditions of Yakutia. Local business leaders gathered to celebrate its unveiling with a ceremonial alghys blessing. Members of Yakutia’s regional branch of Opora Rossii erected the serge in a symbolic gesture of cultural pride. The structure, meticulously crafted by Alexander Pavlov, founder of Kiergeg, embodies the deep-rooted significance of Yakut traditions.
Following the installation, an *alghyschyt* performed the *alghys* ritual, invoking prosperity and success for the region’s entrepreneurs. Sardana Pavlova, head of the local Opora Rossii branch, spoke of her pride in preserving such customs and encouraging others to embrace them. Alexei Baishev, another member of the organisation, reflected on the gathering’s importance. He stressed that maintaining these traditions strengthens the community’s connection to its past while supporting its future.
The newly erected serge now serves as a visible reminder of intergenerational respect and cultural continuity. Its presence in Us Khatyn reinforces the bond between Yakutia’s entrepreneurial spirit and its rich heritage. The ceremony marked a moment of unity for those committed to upholding tradition.
