Tich App secures funding to digitize Africa's informal gig economy
Tich App, a platform digitising informal labour listings, has partnered with FasterCapital to secure funding and growth support. The startup aims to raise US$150,000 to complete Android development and launch a 12-month expansion plan. Its goal is to connect young people aged 15-34 with short-term and gig work opportunities across Africa.
The app simplifies job searches by aggregating informal gigs in one place. It includes features like ratings, references, and basic contract guidance to improve transparency. Tich App's mission is to boost employment visibility and streamline job-matching for urban youth.
Through FasterCapital's EquityPilot programme, the startup will receive execution coaching, go-to-market guidance, and introductions to key mentors. The programme also grants access to a global network of investors and experts to structure Tich App's growth. A targeted pilot will first roll out in Nairobi and Mombasa. The go-to-market strategy includes community outreach in informal settlements and partnerships with local hubs. By early 2026, similar pilot phases are planned for Lagos (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana), and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
The US$150,000 funding will help finalise Tich App's Android development and launch its expansion programme. With FasterCapital's support, the platform aims to make informal labour markets more accessible across key African cities. The pilot phases in Nairobi, Mombasa, and beyond will test its approach before wider implementation.
