Lee Myung-chul Lee holds a degree from the Department of Biotechnology and is currently enrolled at the Institute for Standard Analysis in Incheon. His winning project, titled Quantification of Protein and Detection of Heavy Metals in Protein Supplements, used advanced techniques like elemental analysis (EA), UV-Vis spectroscopy, and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES).
The Research Equipment Specialist Training Program, run by the Institute for Standard Analysis, aims to develop engineers with hands-on expertise in research equipment. Each year, the institute recruits new trainees, though exact figures for 2025 remain undisclosed. Lee's achievement earned him the top prize—the Minister's Award—at the convention. His work highlights the importance of precise analytical methods in ensuring the safety and quality of dietary supplements.
The award recognises Lee's technical skill and the practical value of his research. His findings contribute to better standards in supplement testing. The program continues to train specialists in advanced analytical techniques for future scientific and industrial applications.
