St. Luke's Church and School fights food insecurity with community action

St. Luke's Episcopal Church and School has strengthened its support for the Three O'Clock Project, a local nonprofit tackling food insecurity in South Louisiana. The partnership now includes food drives, student-led service projects, and family volunteer efforts to assist vulnerable families.

In October, the school organised a food drive that collected 551 pounds of dry beans and pasta for the charity. This donation directly supported the Three O'Clock Project's weekly meal distribution, which currently feeds 460 families of four—around 1,840 people.

Seventh-grade students dedicated a Religion class to assembling 110 Thanksgiving meal kits for local families. Meanwhile, the fifth to eighth-grade soccer team took time during practice to package meals. Families from the school also volunteered to deliver Christmas meal kits, reinforcing the school's hands-on commitment. The Three O'Clock Project provides meals, snacks, and educational resources to at-risk children and families throughout the year. St. Luke's plans to continue its involvement through ongoing food collections, service projects, and community engagement.

The collaboration between St. Luke's and the Three O'Clock Project has already delivered thousands of meals to those in need. With regular food drives, student participation, and family volunteering, the school aims to keep expanding its support for struggling families across South Louisiana.
