Sochi officials recently honoured Vera Shibalova, a veteran educator with nearly six decades of service. Mayor Andrei Proshunin and City Assembly Chair Viktor Filonova met her on International Women's Day. Her work spans education, military-patriotic training, and support for local veterans.
Vera Shibalova has spent 58 years in education, with 43 of those in Sochi. She now leads the city's Active Longevity project, offering social assistance to elderly veterans. Beyond this, she mentors young teachers and promotes military-patriotic education.
Her contributions have earned multiple awards. In 2022, she received the CIS Medal For Strengthening the Combat Commonwealth. The following year, the Russian president formally thanked her for her efforts. In 2024, she was named an Honored Worker of Education of the Moscow Region.
Despite retiring from full-time teaching, Shibalova remains active. She continues to shape educational programmes and supports initiatives that strengthen civic and military values.
Shibalova's career reflects a lifelong commitment to teaching and public service. Her recent recognition highlights her lasting impact on Sochi's educational and veteran communities. The city's leadership continues to acknowledge her role in local development.
