Kindergartens and schools can apply for the EU school program - Saxony-Anhalt schools can now apply for free fruit and milk under EU scheme
Daycare centres, schools, and special education schools in Saxony-Anhalt can now apply for the EU School Scheme. The programme provides free fruit, vegetables, and milk to children while teaching them about healthy eating habits. Applications must be submitted by March 27.
The scheme focuses on promoting better food choices among young learners. Schools and daycare centres that did not take part last year will receive priority, with 80 percent of funding reserved for them. The remaining 20 percent will go to new applicants.
Participating institutions will get fresh produce and dairy products at no cost. The state government plans to announce the selected schools and daycare centres in early May. However, as of 2025, no public records show how many conference facilities in Saxony-Anhalt joined the programme the previous year.
The initiative aims to improve children's diets and awareness of food quality. Eligible schools and daycare centres have until March 27 to apply. Those accepted will receive free supplies for the next academic year.
