San Ramon Art & Wind Festival soars back with kites, music and family fun

The San Ramon Art & Wind Festival returns this weekend for its annual celebration. Running from Sunday, May 24 to Monday, May 25, the event will take place at San Ramon Central Park between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. Visitors can expect a mix of art, entertainment, and high-flying kite displays. The festival has been a local tradition since 1989, attracting over 40,000 attendees every year. This year’s programme includes professional kite-flying demonstrations, 'Dueling Kites' shows, and a free kite-making workshop for all ages.

Three entertainment stages will host live music, dance performances, martial arts displays, and children’s shows. Families can explore two Kids Zone areas, offering both free and paid activities. General admission remains free, though some attractions and food booths—run by nonprofit groups—require payment. A Coast Guard helicopter is set to land at the park on Sunday at around 1:30 p.m. The event will also honour Memorial Day with a special programme at Memorial Park on Monday, May 25, starting at 9 a.m. Parking is available for $10 at several nearby lots, with ADA spaces provided at San Ramon City Hall and Iron Horse Middle School. The festival will showcase fine arts, crafts, and specialty food vendors alongside the main attractions.

The two-day event offers a mix of entertainment, culture, and community activities. With free entry and a range of performances, the festival aims to draw crowds for its 36th year. Organisers have arranged parking and accessibility options to accommodate all visitors.
