Russia's Winter Nutrition Guide Reveals Top Immune-Boosting Foods

Russia's consumer protection agency has released winter nutrition advice to boost energy and immunity. The recommendations highlight seasonal foods packed with essential vitamins and protective compounds. Experts suggest including these items in daily meals to stay healthy during the colder months.

Rospotrebnadzor, the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, shared the guidance through its official Telegram channel. Natalya Glukhova, an agency specialist, outlined key foods to strengthen defences against winter illnesses.

Citrus fruits top the list as the main source of ascorbic acid, along with vitamins A and E. These nutrients help the body resist infections and maintain overall health. Persimmons also play a role, offering antioxidants with antiviral benefits and supporting metabolism.

Onions and garlic were noted for their natural antibiotic properties. Their strong antimicrobial effects make them particularly useful during cold and flu season. Pumpkin, rich in pectin, vitamins C and A, and calcium, further strengthens the immune system.

Avocados rounded out the recommendations, praised for improving skin health and combating dryness. They also contribute to cardiovascular function, adding another layer of protection in winter.

The agency's advice focuses on accessible, nutrient-dense foods to help people stay resilient in cold weather. By incorporating citrus, persimmons, pumpkin, garlic, onions, and avocados, individuals can better support their immune systems. These recommendations align with broader public health efforts to reduce seasonal illness risks.
