Quebec's Second Mobile Clinic Launches to Combat Rising Homelessness Crisis
A second Health for Good™ mobile clinic is launching in Quebec to support people experiencing homelessness. The initiative comes as the province's homelessness rate hits a record high, with nearly 10,000 individuals affected—a 15 per cent rise in just 18 months. The Old Brewery Mission and Telus Health are leading the project, aiming to expand essential healthcare access across the region.
The Old Brewery Mission, a Montreal-based charity founded in 1889, focuses on breaking the cycle of homelessness through emergency aid, prevention, and rehousing. Their partnership with Telus Health, a global tech firm with over $20 billion in annual revenue, has made this second mobile clinic possible. Key collaborators include the CIUSSS Centre-Sud, the STM, the SPVM, the CHUM, and local outreach workers.
The new clinic will double weekly site visits, offering more people access to healthcare, harm reduction, addiction support, and help with socioeconomic barriers. Services are designed specifically for those without stable housing, addressing gaps in traditional care systems.
Telus Health's contribution builds on its commitment to using technology for social impact. The company operates in over 45 countries and has a history of funding initiatives that improve community well-being. This expansion follows the success of the first mobile clinic, which has already provided critical support to vulnerable populations.
With the second clinic now operational, the programme will reach twice as many locations each week. The partnership between The Old Brewery Mission, Telus Health, and local organisations aims to reduce barriers to healthcare for Quebec's growing homeless population. No further clinics have been announced beyond the two currently in service.
