Payoneer and Upwork team up to revolutionize freelancer payouts globally
Payoneer and Upwork have renewed their partnership to streamline international payouts for freelancers. The extended agreement comes as demand for cross-border payment solutions grows alongside the rise of remote work. Both firms will now explore blockchain and stablecoin options to improve efficiency. The collaboration builds on Payoneer’s existing financial platform, which offers freelancers global bank transfers, multi-currency accounts, and foreign exchange services. Its network spans nearly 100 banks and payment providers across 190 countries and territories. Under the renewed deal, Payoneer will continue processing payouts for Upwork freelancers in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
The two companies will also examine how blockchain technology can enhance cross-border transactions. A key focus will be stablecoin-enabled payouts, particularly in emerging markets like Latin America. This move reflects broader industry interest in digital currencies as a faster, lower-cost alternative to traditional international transfers. The partnership extension aims to meet the needs of a growing freelance workforce reliant on seamless cross-border payments. By integrating stablecoin and blockchain solutions, Payoneer and Upwork plan to reduce transaction costs and processing times. The changes will apply to freelancers across multiple regions in the coming months.
