Berlin-Dresden Bike Route Gets First Waymarkers - New 250-km cycling route connects Dresden and Berlin through scenic landscapes

A new 250-kilometre cycling route now links Dresden and Berlin, winding through scenic landscapes like Lusatian Lakeland and the Spree Forest. The path forms part of Saxony's wider plan to boost cycle tourism and offer a quieter alternative to busy roads.

The route was shaped by volunteers from the German Cycling Association (ADFC), using existing trails where possible. Designed for flexibility, it can be tackled in two days by experienced riders or spread over a week for families.

Directional signs are gradually being added to guide cyclists. Around 20 have already gone up in Dresden, with more planned across Saxony. The first official signpost was unveiled in the city on 16 March 2026, marking the start of a phased rollout. Most of the path avoids heavy traffic, offering a peaceful journey through nature. The project aligns with Saxony's broader strategy to expand cycling infrastructure and attract more visitors.

Cycling contributes significantly to Saxony's economy, generating over €560 million each year and supporting around 10,800 jobs. The new Dresden-Berlin route aims to further strengthen tourism while providing a relaxed, car-free experience for riders.
