Neuwied honors late poet Helmut Krämer with a literary evening
Neuwied City Library will host a literary evening on April 9 to celebrate the legacy of Helmut Krämer. The event, titled Naiwidder Geschnuddels, will feature readings and live music. Admission is free, but organisers encourage attendees to register beforehand.
Helmut Krämer, a local historian and poet, spent decades documenting Neuwied's dialect and history. He believed deeply in preserving connections to the past in an increasingly fast-moving world. Despite his influence, no cultural or literary events in his honour have taken place in the town since 2021.
The upcoming evening will include readings by KD Boden, accompanied by live music from Michael Dames. The gathering starts at 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 9, at the library's Pfarrstraße 8 location.
The event marks the first public tribute to Krämer in five years. Free to attend, it offers residents a chance to engage with the town's linguistic and historical heritage. Registration details are available through Neuwied City Library.
