Perfect 'Outdoor Weather' for Siberian Tigers in Magdeburg - Magdeburg Zoo's tigers and snow leopards embrace winter's icy playground
Magdeburg Zoo is witnessing unusual activity among its cold-loving animals this winter. With persistent frost and snow, tigers, snow leopards, and other species are spending more time outdoors. Visitors can now observe them playing in the snow, offering a rare winter spectacle.
Since early January, the zoo's snow leopards have been particularly lively. The cold spell has kept them active in their outdoor enclosure, where they share space with lynxes and elephants. Their energy levels have risen noticeably in recent weeks.
Sheera, a Siberian tiger, is also making the most of the wintry conditions. She has been spending extended time outside with her four cubs, born in May 2025. The litter includes two males and two females, all now old enough to explore the snow.
To celebrate the season, the zoo is hosting a special 'Siberian Campfire' event. Guests can enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour and watch public feedings of the Siberian tigers and snow leopards. The event gives visitors a closer look at how these animals thrive in cold weather.
The frost and snow have brought extra energy to Magdeburg Zoo's cold-adapted animals. Tigers, leopards, and other species remain visible and playful outdoors. The zoo's winter events provide a chance to see them in action during the coldest months.
