Lost dog Lola found after five years thanks to microchip miracle

A dog named Lola has been reunited with her owner after vanishing for five years. Michelle Bluestone adopted the pet in 2018, only for Lola to escape from her Reseda backyard in 2021. Despite years of searching, no leads turned up—until a shelter called in February 2026.

Lola first went missing in 2021 when she slipped out of Bluestone's garden. Her owner immediately put up flyers and contacted local shelters, but no one had seen the dog. With no clues, the trail went cold.

Years later, in early 2026, an animal shelter in Echo Park scanned a stray dog's microchip. The chip traced back to Bluestone's details from Lola's 2018 adoption. The shelter, around 12 to 15 miles from Bluestone's former home in Reseda, reached out with the unexpected news. Lola was in rough shape when found. Her nails were overgrown, and her teeth were in poor condition. Yet, apart from these issues, her health was stable. Bluestone believes the dog was not properly cared for during her time away. Where Lola spent the past five years remains a mystery. The reunion came as a surprise, bringing relief after years of uncertainty.

Bluestone now has Lola back, despite the dog's neglected state. The microchip played a crucial role in their reunion. While questions about Lola's disappearance remain, her return marks the end of a long search.
