Krasnodar launches major upgrade for playgrounds and green spaces by 2026

Krasnodar is set to upgrade its green spaces and playgrounds under a new city initiative. Mayor Yevgeny Naumov announced plans to expand play areas, improve safety, and add sports facilities for residents. The project aims to address long-standing requests for better outdoor spaces across the city. The city has identified 109 locations currently without playgrounds. These sites will be developed with new equipment, including sports facilities and outdoor workout zones. Standardised designs have been finalised to simplify installation and cut costs.

Vandalism remains a persistent issue, often damaging existing equipment. Property management companies will take charge of maintaining playgrounds within their residential areas. Meanwhile, resident complaints about broken or unsafe facilities are being reviewed and fixed where possible. Construction on the new play spaces will start in 2023. By 2026, the city plans to renovate at least 600 pieces of equipment across various sites. The initiative focuses on creating safer, more accessible areas for children and families to use.

The project marks a push to modernise Krasnodar's public spaces over the next few years. New playgrounds and sports zones will be rolled out in stages, with maintenance responsibilities clearly assigned. The goal is to provide residents with well-kept, functional areas for recreation by 2026.
