Koblenz's Stadtmarketing LAB Once Again Becomes a Hub for Innovative Temporary Use

Koblenz's New Pop-Up Wine Hub Opens for Tastings and Culture in 2026

Starting April 18, 2026, young entrepreneur Alexander Schneider will launch a new pop-up concept blending wine, culture, and retail in the space.

Dubbed the "Genusszimmer-Proberaum" (or "Tasting Room Studio"), the project aims to create a wine event venue that showcases regional wines while bringing fresh experiences to the city center. "Our goal is to make local wines accessible in an engaging, low-threshold way while fostering a space for connection, dialogue, and cultural inspiration," says Schneider, who hails from Koblenz's Genusszimmer—a family-run business specializing in premium wine trade. He brings extensive expertise in high-quality wines to the table.

The "Proberaum" (Studio) concept is deliberately designed as a trial run: Schneider will use the space at Josef-Görres-Platz 8 as a testing ground for a hybrid model combining wine sales, events, and cultural programming. If the response is positive, a permanent location in Koblenz's city center could follow.

"With the Stadtmarketing LAB, we're deliberately creating spaces where new ideas can be piloted," explains Christiane Walther-Oeckel, City Manager at Koblenz-Stadtmarketing GmbH. "These initiatives are a vital tool for keeping the city center vibrant and evolving."

As a temporary platform, the LAB gives startups and founders visibility for six to twelve months, supporting innovative concepts for the urban core. The Koblenz-Stadtmarketing GmbH has previously used the site for creative interim projects, most recently hosting a concept store for fashion and upcycling, as well as a temporary photography exhibition in March.

From April 18, 2026, the venue will host intimate gatherings for 10 to 20 guests, featuring a diverse program of winemaker evenings, readings, comedy, small-scale theater, variety shows, and refined musical performances. A pop-up wine shop will complement the events, ensuring foot traffic even outside scheduled programs.

Tickets will be available both on-site and online. Private tastings can now be booked at www.genusszimmer.de/events. Culinary pairings will be provided in collaboration with local gastronomy partners, offering tailored snacks and small dishes.
