Khabarovsk's Children's Railway Granted Tax Exemption Until 2028

The Legislative Duma of Khabarovsk Krai has approved a tax exemption for the Far Eastern Children’s Railway. The move aims to boost funding for maintenance and modernisation while supporting youth training in the region’s railway sector. Lawmakers backed the measure unanimously in a recent session. The bill sets a zero percent tax rate for the railway, which operates as a fully functional training centre. It includes its own stations, terminals, trains, and supporting infrastructure. The exemption will remain in place until 2028.

The railway serves as a career guidance hub for young residents of Khabarovsk. Around 460 schoolchildren currently study there, gaining practical experience in roles such as locomotive engineers, dispatchers, and communications specialists. Deputies highlighted the importance of the initiative in fostering future professionals for the region’s railway industry. By reinvesting tax savings, the railway plans to enhance training conditions. The relief is expected to make the learning environment more engaging and comfortable for students. Lawmakers emphasised the railway’s role in extracurricular education and its long-term benefits for the local workforce.

The tax break will channel funds directly into the railway’s upkeep and educational programmes. With the exemption secured until 2028, the facility can continue training young specialists without financial strain. The decision reflects broader efforts to strengthen vocational education in Khabarovsk Krai.
