Kempower accelerates European expansion with fast-charging deals and new tech

Finnish charging specialist Kempower is pushing ahead with expansion across Europe. The company, known for its fast-charging solutions, has recently secured major deals and unveiled new infrastructure. Its latest projects include a high-capacity charging station in Sweden and a multimillion-euro agreement in Luxembourg.

The firm is also preparing to launch a groundbreaking system for heavy transport in early 2024 while eyeing further growth beyond its Nordic base.

Kempower made headlines in December 2023 with the opening of the Rifil charging station near Malmö, Sweden. This site, part of the Falkenklev Logistik network, supports both electric trucks and passenger cars. It follows the company's first Rifil station in 2022, which featured 22 Kempower Satellite charging points.

In Luxembourg, the company signed a deal worth over €2.5 million to supply fast DC charging technology to MINUSINES S.A. This agreement marks a key step in Kempower's strategy to expand beyond Scandinavia. Guillermo López Arias, Head of Sales for Iberia and Latin America, recently discussed these plans in an interview with Mobility Portal Group.

The company is also finalising its Megawatt Charging System (MCS) for heavy transport, set for release in early 2024. Despite progress, grid access remains a hurdle for some projects. Meanwhile, Nordic countries continue to prioritise advanced charging technology over cost concerns in their push for electric vehicle adoption.

Kempower is now assessing additional cities and countries for future rollouts, aiming to accelerate its European presence.

Kempower's recent deals and infrastructure projects signal a period of rapid growth. The launch of its MCS system in 2024 will further strengthen its position in heavy transport charging. As the company explores new markets, its focus remains on overcoming grid challenges and meeting rising demand across Europe.
