Kazakhstan has witnessed a steady increase in healthy living habits among its people. By the end of 2025, 35.7% of the population followed key wellness principles—up 1.5% from the previous year. The shift comes as more people prioritize disease prevention, exercise, and better nutrition.
A major part of this change has been the expansion of health schools across the country. These educational platforms, set up within healthcare facilities, teach individuals how to manage and improve their well-being. In 2025 alone, 4,719 such schools operated in outpatient clinics, reaching over 1.66 million participants.
Hospitals also played a role, with 380 health schools serving 253,352 people. The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) supported these efforts by establishing structured programmes. Their focus was on helping practitioners promote proactive health measures and prevent illness through systematic approaches.
The growing interest in wellness reflects a broader trend. More Kazakhs are now actively choosing healthier lifestyles, from regular physical activity to balanced diets.
The increase in health-conscious behavior aligns with the expansion of educational initiatives. With 35.7% of the population adopting healthier habits, the country's investment in health schools appears to be making an impact. Officials continue to monitor participation as these programmes develop further.
