Kazakhstan's new nutrient formula revolutionizes dairy fermentation with Lactobacillus boost
Scientists in Pavlodar have created a new nutrient formula designed to boost the growth of beneficial lactobacilli. The development, led by Tatiana Uryumtseva, aims to improve the quality of dairy products in Kazakhstan by enhancing fermentation processes. The formula focuses on cultivating Lactobacillus acidophilus, one of the most important lactic acid bacteria. It contains a unique blend of soy seed extract, whey, and yeast autolysate, with precise ratios that are now patented. These ingredients work together to accelerate the growth of beneficial bacteria while suppressing harmful microorganisms.
Testing shows the composition significantly increases the presence of *Lactobacillus acidophilus*. At the same time, it restricts the development of unwanted lactic acid bacteria, ensuring cleaner and more controlled fermentation. This innovation allows Kazakhstan's dairy producers to create starter cultures locally rather than relying on imports. The research was headed by Tatiana Uryumtseva, the university's lead scientist. Her team developed the formula to meet the specific needs of the country's dairy industry, offering a more efficient and reliable method for producing high-quality fermented products.
The new nutrient medium provides a way for Kazakhstan to produce starter cultures domestically. Its ability to enhance beneficial bacteria and limit contamination could lead to better-quality yoghurts, cheeses, and other dairy goods. The patented formula marks a step forward for the country's food production sector.
