Cat Petting Enthusiasts Sought - Karlsruhe Shelter Needs Volunteers to Brighten Cats' Days in 'Cat Village'

The Karlsruhe Animal Shelter is seeking volunteers to spend time with its cats. Anyone aged 14 or older can sign up to help, offering companionship to the shelter's feline residents. The initiative aims to improve the well-being of around 30 to 40 cats currently housed in the shelter's 'Cat Village'.

The shelter's 'Cat Village' is home to animals awaiting adoption. Nearly 400 cats pass through the facility each year, including strays and those handed in by owners. Volunteers will provide social interaction, which is vital for the animals' happiness and health.

Interested helpers can register by phone or email. Bookings are available for the current week and the following week. Volunteering slots last between one and two and a half hours daily, though the shelter remains closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and certain dates.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult during their visits. The shelter hopes that spending time with the cats will encourage some volunteers to form lasting bonds—possibly even leading to adoptions.

The programme offers a chance for animal lovers to make a difference. By giving cats attention and care, volunteers play a key role in their daily lives. Those wishing to take part can contact the shelter directly to arrange a session.
