Garmin's AI Nutrition Tracker Debuts at CES 2026 with Smart Food Analysis

Garmin has introduced an AI-powered nutrition tracker at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The new tool helps users monitor their diet by analysing food images and linking them to a detailed database. It is now available to Garmin Connect+ subscribers for a monthly fee of $6.99.

The feature uses AI-driven image recognition to identify meals and estimate nutritional values. During a live demonstration at a Las Vegas restaurant, it correctly recognised dishes like grilled salmon and mixed vegetables. However, portion sizing remains a challenge—at one point, a small serving of corn was misread as a full cup.

Users can log meals directly through compatible Garmin smartwatches using voice commands. The system also allows manual adjustments to improve accuracy. Subscribers gain access to detailed reports comparing their calorie targets with actual intake.

The nutrition tracker integrates with Active Intelligence, another AI tool in Garmin Connect+. This provides workout insights while factoring in dietary data for a more personalised fitness overview.

The new AI-powered tracker expands Garmin's health-monitoring capabilities. Subscribers can now track nutrition alongside fitness metrics within the same app. The tool is currently limited to Garmin Connect+ users for $6.99 per month.
