Expert Webinar Reveals How Mineral Form Boosts Pet Health on 4 March

A free webinar on mineral nutrition for dogs and cats will take place on 4 March. The event, sponsored by Alltech and hosted by Industry, will explore how the form of minerals in pet food affects health and performance. Laurentia van Rensburg, a leading expert in animal nutrition, will lead the discussion.

Over the past five years, research into proteinated minerals—such as chelated copper, zinc, and manganese—has advanced significantly. Studies by Alltech and institutions like UC Davis (2022–2025) found these forms improve bioavailability by 20–30% compared to traditional inorganic minerals. Clinical trials (2023–2025) also confirmed benefits for skin, coat, immunity, and digestion in dogs and cats, alongside reduced environmental impact due to lower excretion.

The webinar will focus on how mineral form influences formulation choices and nutrient interactions. Van Rensburg, who holds a Master's in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky, brings over 20 years of experience across South Africa, the EU, Latin America, and North America. Currently serving as Alltech's Commercial Head of Nutrition, she will highlight the advantages of proteinated minerals for efficient mineral delivery in pet diets.

The session will air at 10:00 AM CST (Chicago), 4:00 PM GMT (London), and midnight CST (Beijing) on 4 March. Registration is open to professionals in pet nutrition and veterinary science.

The webinar aims to provide practical insights for pet food formulators and veterinarians. Attendees will learn how proteinated minerals can enhance nutrient absorption and sustainability in companion animal diets. The event reflects growing industry interest in optimizing mineral sources for pet health.
