Spring Awakening in the Garden Realm Dessau-Wörlitz - Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom Welcomes Spring with a Grand Festival

The Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom has officially opened its doors for the new season. A lively 'Spring Awakening' festival marked the start, drawing crowds to the UNESCO World Heritage site. Visitors enjoyed a weekend filled with music, markets, and historical celebrations.

The season began with a traditional procession led by actors in 18th-century costumes. Reiner Haseloff, the former minister-president of Saxony-Anhalt, attended the event. The festival also included a spring market, live performances, and guided tours of the historic grounds.

The Garden Kingdom, designed in the 1700s under Prince Leopold III Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau, spans 140 square kilometres. Key attractions like the Gothic House, Stein Island, and the Princess's House in Wörlitz have reopened for visitors. A falconry display added to the weekend's entertainment. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000, the landscape attracts tens of thousands of guests each year. Many travel from across Germany and abroad to explore its gardens, palaces, and cultural events.

The festival set the tone for a busy season ahead. The Garden Kingdom's mix of history, nature, and entertainment continues to draw large numbers of visitors. Events like the spring market and falconry display will run throughout the year.
