A Diabetes Awareness Session titled Health & Diabetes... A Relationship of Awareness was recently organised by the Student Affairs Deanship. The event brought together health experts, local businesses, and over 200 participants to promote education on type 2 diabetes prevention and management.
The session included an awareness lecture called Diabetes Under Control, delivered by Ms. Zahraa Rahma from the Dasman Diabetes Institute. Another talk on Diabetes Prevention and Management was presented by representatives from the Rotary Club.
A health fair featured more than 15 organisations offering educational booths and free medical screenings. Lulu Hypermarket took part by showcasing diabetes-friendly products, including sugar-free and low-glycemic options. The supermarket also set up sampling stations, allowing attendees to try nutritious alternatives suitable for daily type 2 diabetes care.
The event focused on improving knowledge around diabetes detection, healthy lifestyles, and long-term management. Participants included trainees, staff, and faculty members, all engaging with the resources and discussions provided.
The session successfully reached a wide audience, reinforcing the importance of diabetes awareness and healthy living. Lulu Hypermarket's involvement, along with expert-led lectures and free screenings, helped equip attendees with practical tools for better health management and health insurance coverage.
