Café féminin is hosting a new event for women on March 9. From 7 to 9 p.m., attendees can join a cosmetics workshop focused on making solid body butter. The session is part of the group's monthly gatherings, each covering topics like health, work-life balance, and culture.
The workshop will be led by Laura Lenders, an environmental consultant from the Consumer Advice Center in Langenfeld. Participants will craft their own nourishing, plastic-free body butter using fragrant oils. Organisers encourage bringing a sturdy tin or clean screw-top jar for transport, with options to decorate them on-site.
Organic and fair-trade ingredients will take centre stage in the session. Many of these materials originate from the Global South, where workers—often women and single mothers—face low wages and harsh conditions. By choosing fair-trade products, the workshop aims to support better labour practices.
Like all Café féminin events, the evening will begin with a short presentation by the guest speaker. This will be followed by an open discussion, giving attendees a chance to share ideas and experiences.
The cosmetics workshop offers a hands-on way to explore sustainable self-care. Participants will leave with a homemade product and a deeper understanding of ethical sourcing. The event continues Café féminin's mission to provide practical, engaging sessions for women every second Monday of the month.
