CALL FOR ART: Burien's Arts-A-Glow seeking artists for September festival of illuminated art

Burien's Arts-A-Glow Festival Seeks Dazzling Light Art for 19th Year

Downtown Burien will glow with creativity this autumn as the Arts-A-Glow festival returns for its 19th year. The event, organised by the City of Burien and local artists, is calling for submissions from creators specialising in light, projection, and illuminated artworks. Selected pieces will transform the area into an interactive outdoor gallery on September 12. The festival will take place on Saturday, September 12, running from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Visitors can expect projection mapping on buildings, large-scale light installations, and performances by roving artists. Hands-on activities will also let attendees engage directly with the illuminated works.

Artists interested in participating must submit their proposals by 8 p.m. on July 6. The festival welcomes both new and existing temporary light-based projects. Full details, including submission guidelines and application forms, are available on the Arts-A-Glow artist call website. Now in its 19th year, the event continues to showcase innovative uses of light and technology. Organisers encourage artists with fresh ideas to apply, whether their work involves projections, interactive installations, or glowing sculptures.

The chosen artworks will light up downtown Burien during the September festival. Successful applicants will have their pieces displayed alongside live performances and audience activities. The deadline for submissions remains July 6 at 8 p.m.
