Braunschweig unveils four 2026 events with Sunday shopping and local flair
Braunschweig City Marketing GmbH has announced four major events for 2026, each offering Sunday shopping and unique attractions. The programme kicks off in April with Stadtfrühling and runs through to November with mummegenussmeile. Organisers aim to draw visitors with a mix of retail, culture, and local specialities.
The first event, Stadtfrühling, takes place on April 25–26. It will include a mobility fair showcasing bicycles, modern cars, and electric vehicles. Downtown shops will open from 1 to 6 p.m., coordinated by Arbeitsausschuss Innenstadt Braunschweig e.V. (AAI).
From June 12–14, Tag der Niedersachsen will arrive as the largest state festival in Lower Saxony. The celebration highlights volunteer work and regional diversity, featuring performances, exhibitions, and local traditions.
On September 26–27, trendsporterlebnis offers interactive sports experiences. Local clubs and professional athletes will lead demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages.
The final event, mummegenussmeile, runs from November 6–8. It will present regional culinary specialties, including dishes made with and without Mumme, a traditional malt beverage. As with all events, shops will open on Sunday afternoons for extended trading hours.
All four events will allow Sunday shopping between 1 and 6 p.m. in central Braunschweig. The programme combines retail opportunities with cultural and recreational activities, aiming to boost local engagement and tourism. Organisers have confirmed no similar large-scale Sunday shopping events have taken place in Lower Saxony over the past three years.
