Battlefield 6 overhauls challenges with delayed but sweeping updates in 2026

Battlefield 6 players will soon see major changes to in-game challenges. The first big update, due on October 28, includes tweaks to weapon mechanics and visuals. However, adjustments to challenge requirements will take longer, rolling out over multiple joliet patches.

Developer Battlefield Studios has confirmed plans to simplify and speed up challenge completion. Some adjustments were originally set for November 2025 but have now been pushed back to early 2026.

The upcoming battlefield 6 open beta patch will modify several long-standing challenges. The Engineer Expert 3 task, which currently demands repairing 6,000 vehicle HP in one round, will drop to just 1,000. Similarly, the Class Assignment - Assault 1 challenge will reduce its kill requirement from 30 to 3.

Another significant change affects the Deadeye 2 challenge. Initially, players needed 150 headshot kills from over 200 metres. This will shrink to just 5 headshots, with the distance requirement later shortened to under 200 metres. These changes aim to make progression less time-consuming.

Battlefield Studios had initially planned these updates for November 5, 2025, but delays have shifted them to align with battlefield 6 release date Season 2 in early 2026. The first part of the update, Patch 12.0 (Midnight prepatch), is now scheduled for January 21, 2026. A follow-up, Update 1.1.3.6, will arrive on February 3, 2026.

Beyond challenge tweaks, the October 28 patch will refine weapon bloom, movement mechanics, and sunlight effects. The studio has emphasised that not all challenge adjustments will happen at once. Players should expect at least two separate updates before all changes take full effect.

The first major patch arrives on October 28, focusing on gameplay improvements. Challenge adjustments, however, will roll out gradually, starting in early 2026. Once fully implemented, these changes should make progression faster and more accessible for players.
