Artspace New Haven Swaps Gala for Love Notes—A Fresh Fundraising Twist
Artspace New Haven is launching a new fundraising event called Love Notes to replace its annual gala. Running from 30 April to 2 May, the exhibition will showcase small artworks inspired by the things, places, and people artists cherish. Organisers are now inviting submissions from creators across the state. The idea for Love Notes came from Artspace Director Lisa Dent after the cancellation of the usual gala. Each piece in the show measures 5 by 8 inches and sells for $95. Works span a variety of mediums, including photographs, oil paintings, and collages.
All artworks will be displayed without artist names to encourage buyers to focus on the pieces themselves rather than reputations. The event also features a reception on 29 April, with virtual tickets priced at $100 and in-person attendance at $150. By removing labels, the exhibition invites visitors to engage with art purely on its own merit. The fundraiser offers a fresh way to support Artspace while celebrating personal and artistic connections. Submissions remain open to artists statewide, with the event set to run for three days. Proceeds from sales and ticket purchases will directly benefit the organisation's programmes.
