Arbitrum evolves into a $20B settlement powerhouse for Wall Street

Arbitrum has grown far beyond its original role as a low-cost scaling solution for Ethereum. The platform now positions itself as a key settlement layer for major financial institutions. Recent upgrades and rising adoption have pushed its total value locked to around $20 billion.

The platform's 2025 Transparency Report revealed over 2.1 billion cumulative transactions. Infrastructure improvements like ArbOS, BoLD, and Stylus have strengthened its capabilities. At the same time, revenue tools such as Timeboost have brought in more than $6 million for Arbitrum's decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO).

Major financial players are now using Arbitrum for tokenized assets. Robinhood has listed nearly 2,000 tokenized stocks and ETFs on the network. Franklin Templeton and WisdomTree have also launched products, helping Arbitrum's real-world asset (RWA) volume exceed $800 million by the end of 2025.

The stablecoin supply on Arbitrum has surged by 80% year-on-year, reaching nearly $10 billion. The ecosystem now supports over 1,000 projects and more than 100 chains. Instead of relying on token emissions, Arbitrum is shifting toward fee-based and auction-driven income models.

Arbitrum's expansion reflects its growing appeal to both developers and traditional finance. With stronger infrastructure, rising institutional adoption, and a shift in revenue strategy, the platform is cementing its place as a major player in blockchain-based settlement. The next phase will likely focus on scaling these financial integrations further.
