Aarau's Schachen Pool Raises Prices and Expands Hours for 2026 Season

Aarau's Schachen outdoor pool will raise admission prices for the 2026 season. The change comes as part of efforts to cover rising operational costs. Alongside the price adjustment, the pool will also introduce earlier opening times on two weekdays.

The decision to increase entry fees follows a review of financial needs. Officials confirmed that the new rates match those of similar pools in the area. The adjustment ensures that half of the pool's operating expenses will now be funded by visitor admissions.

A separate trial in summer 2025 tested early openings at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Visitors responded positively to the extended hours, though exact attendance figures were not released. Based on this feedback, the pool will permanently adopt the earlier schedule for the 2026 season.

The price rise and extended morning access will take effect when the pool reopens in 2026. The changes aim to balance financial sustainability with improved service for regular swimmers. Officials have not announced further adjustments at this time.
