A Las Vegas conference line led to love—and a life in Trinidad
A chance encounter at a work conference in Las Vegas changed one woman’s life forever. She met her future husband while standing in line—just three days after he had arrived in America from Trinidad and Tobago. Within 24 hours, she knew she would follow him anywhere. At 25, she felt ready to settle down. Before the conference, she had already made changes to focus on her future, including stepping back from dating. She even renamed contacts in her phone to ‘Do Not Answer’ to avoid distractions.
The connection was instant. Despite knowing each other for less than a day, she told him she would go wherever he went. He was from Trinidad and Tobago, and soon, she would leave her home behind. Thirteen years later, they are married and raising their children in Trinidad and Tobago. The biggest challenge was adjusting to life far from her closest family. Yet, the decision she made in that Las Vegas queue shaped everything that followed.
What began as a brief meeting in a conference line led to a life together in a new country. The couple now live in Trinidad and Tobago with their children. The distance from her family remains the most noticeable change from her life before that day.
