A 2025 Musical Pilgrimage Retraces Bach's Legacy from Eisenach to Leipzig

A special musical pilgrimage will trace the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach in 2025. The journey begins in his birthplace, Eisenach, before moving to Leipzig for the renowned Bach Festival. Participants will enjoy exclusive concerts, guided tours, and first-class travel arranged by Cultours GmbH. The trip starts in Eisenach, where Bach was born in 1685. From there, travellers head to Leipzig, the city where he worked for nearly three decades. St. Thomas Church, his central workplace from 1723 to 1750, remains a hub for his music, hosting regular organ recitals, cantata performances, and events like the 2025 'Gravity Bach' marathon by organist Johannes Lang.

On the second and third days, guided city tours will highlight Leipzig's rich history. St. Nicholas Church and the Paulinum stand as reminders of the city's role in the 1989 Peaceful Revolution, which led to German reunification. Meanwhile, St. Thomas Church will feature the St. Thomas Boys Choir alongside the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin.

The festival's grand finale takes place at the Gewandhaus, where the Gewandhaus Orchestra, conducted by Andris Nelsons, will perform Bach's Mass in B Minor, BWV 232. Gabriela Kaegi and Béatrice Zbinden of Cultours GmbH will accompany the group throughout the journey.

The package includes four nights' accommodation, premium concert tickets, and first-class train travel. All bookings follow the general travel and contract conditions of Cultours GmbH. This musical pilgrimage offers a deep dive into Bach's world, from his birthplace to his most influential workplace. With top-tier performances, historical insights, and luxury travel, the trip celebrates his enduring impact on Leipzig's cultural identity. The festival's closing concert at the Gewandhaus marks the highlight of the experience.
