52 Family Members Wear Matching Emerald Green for Hari Raya Aidilfitri
A large family in Kampung Tok Dir, Kuala Terengganu, keeps a special tradition alive every Hari Raya Aidilfitri. For the past six years, they have worn matching outfits to celebrate the festive morning together. This year, emerald green was the chosen colour for all 52 family members.
The tradition began in 2018 as a way to strengthen family bonds. With 12 children, 30 grandchildren, and 10 in-laws, the Abdullah family selects one colour theme each year. The decision is made through a vote in their family WhatsApp group, ensuring everyone has a say.
Most of the family live close to one another, making it easier to gather for the celebration. Once the colour is chosen, each member buys their own outfit in the agreed shade. The coordinated look adds to the sense of unity during the festive morning. This year's emerald green theme was no exception. The family believes the shared colour makes their gathering more organised and visually harmonious. While similar traditions exist in some communities, the Abdullahs' approach remains unique in their area.
The matching outfits have become a cherished part of their Aidilfitri celebration. By involving everyone in the decision, the family maintains a strong sense of togetherness. The tradition continues to bring them closer each year.
